I guess I’ve been quite fortunate to have been associated with relatively enlightened employers over the past several years, where the run-up to Christmas consists not (or not only) of Christmas Parties, Secret Santa’s (a.k.a. Kris Kringle), Spend-Christmas-Bonus-In-One-Day, and other trite, tired, and ultimately meaningless modern traditions of the season.
Instead, or in addition, the companies I have been at have managed to prod their employees to go out of their way and spend the better part of what would have been a regular working day in the first half of December with a charitable institution of the employees’ choice, accompanied by relatively generous company-funded assistance to the institution in cash and in kind.
Several years of doing this sort of thing have enabled me to accumulate a list of favorite charities from my own backyard. I thought that I would now share it with all of you, so that you could be inspired to start your own annual outreach tradition with your hopefully equally-enlightened employer, or barring that, even with your own family members or group of friends.

I didn't know Bulacan has so many of these kinds of charitable institutions. I only know of one in Pampanga--and it's for reformed bar girls. Haha. I have to give you my donation for Mrs. Regala's advocacy when next we meet.

I think that there should be some charitable institutions of this sort in Pampanga as well -- your parish office might have a list from the archdiocese that they can share.
